TI champions, Major champions, regional champions… No one is safe from elimination!
The group stage is over, and it's finally time for the ESL One Birmingham Playoffs! The twelve best teams in the world fight a million-dollar prize pool and, more importantly, some of the last EPT points before Riyadh Masters 2024. However, it's been shocking to see big names like Gaimin Gladiators and Team Spirit kicked out so early.
This story gets more spicy if we dive deeper: Xtreme Gaming won the last big international tournament, yet they are now facing elimination in the lower brackets. OG didn't even qualify but got a last-minute invite due to 1win's visa issues. Yet, they got top in their groups. What other stories are cooking for the ESL One Birmingham Playoffs?
All teams qualified for the ESL One Birmingham Playoffs
The last Group Stage day saw nine teams fighting for their future in the last ESL One event before Riyadh Masters. After a long session of tie-breakers, the remaining teams playing the upper and lower brackets are:
- Group A
- Team Falcons (Upper brackets)
- BetBoom Team (Upper brackets)
- Team Liquid (Lower brackets)
- G2xiG (Lower brackets)
- Group B
- OG (Upper brackets)
- Tundra Esports (Upper Brackets)
- Xtreme Gaming (Lower Brackets)
- HEROIC (Lower brackets)
It was an elimination tale for Team Spirit, Tundra, Xtreme Gaming, and HEROIC. As odd as it gets, Group B had almost every team tied, with Gaimin Gladiators early eliminated by a one-point difference. Yet, the surprises were not done there. Minutes later, HEROIC, the South American dark horse, would beat Team Spirit in thirty minutes of intense, stomping fashion. Followed by two more defeats against Xtreme Gaming and Tundra, it was over for The International and Riyadh Masters champions.
Brackets for the ESL One Birmingham
The top eight will be playing on the live stage for the last three days of the competition. But first, the initial round of Upper Brackets will be played in a closed-door studio, like the rest of the group stage. The ESL One Birmingham playoffs brackets are defined as follows.
All the remaining games will be played in Bo3 format, except for the Bo5 Grand Final. Don't forget to catch all of them on ESL's main Twitch and YouTube channel.
